The facility was built in 1960 and occupied beginning in 1961.  It contains 45,965 GSF on 2 floors above ground and a basement.

The La Crosse State Office Building currently houses the Wisconsin DOT Southwest Regional Office, a DNR Service Center, the DOA Division of Hearings and Appeals and offices of the Department of Workforce Development.
