Continuity of Operations / Continuity of Government (COOP/COG)

About Us

Continuity of Government (COG) and Continuity of Operations (COOP) are tasked with ensuring minimal disruption of essential government services to the citizens and businesses of Wisconsin in an emergency or disaster.

COOP/COG recovery plans are created, analyzed, trained and exercised regularly to practice worst-case situations.  Plans and strategies are designed to ensure the continued operation of key government support functions without the use of traditional government facilities, resources or full staffing.

Rather than remain susceptible to such emergencies, the Governor and the Executive Branch have chosen to prepare for worst-case scenarios as a guarantee that uninterrupted essential government services are available.
