Live entertainment and large meeting venues, which often
serve as community gathering places and cultural hubs, were among the first
small businesses to close and may be among the last to fully re-open. Many
owners have expressed the need for federal assistance to help these venues
remain viable resources for the communities they serve.
Governor Tony Evers has
designated $15,000,000 from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic
Security (CARES) Act to live entertainment and large meeting venue operators whose facilities have been negatively affected
by COVID-19. Administered
through the Department of Administration (DOA), the COVID-19 Live Music
and Entertainment Venue Grant Program will provide
awards up to $500,000 or 25% of 2019 ticket or event sales, whichever is
less.
