Biography - Sara Buschman, Administrator

Sara Buschman is the Division Administrator for the Department of Administration’s (DOA) Division of Energy, Housing and Community Resources (DECHR), a position she has held since April, 2017. Before joining DOA, Sara spent six years at the Department of Children and Families where she was appointed as the Communications Director in 2011 and the Assistant Deputy Secretary in 2012. During that time, she oversaw the strategic planning and development of the department’s legislative agenda and budget initiatives. She also served on the leadership team for several key department initiatives as well as serving on the Wisconsin Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board. Prior to that, Sara spent 20 years in the Wisconsin State Legislature as a senior legislative aide responsible for policy creation on a variety of legislative issues, specializing in health, economic development and job creation. 

Sara earned her undergraduate degree from Viterbo University as well as a certificate from Harvard’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program. In 2014, she was named a fellow with the Council of State Governments’ Henry Toll Fellowship Leadership Development Program.
